Hi,
We've taken off our wall-to-wall stairs carpet (20 year old 'estate' house), and we're replacing it with a carpet runner and stair rods, so the sides of the treads and risers will need glossing where they're now exposed. They've been painted before, but the issue is the old carpet underlay, green, had decayed and left yellow 'oily' looking marks on the woodwork. After a bit of sanding and prepping, I've painted the sides of the treads with Dulux Once satin- but I've noticed that the yellowish stain has come through! I don't have the time (or inclination!) to sand 14 treads and risers back to bare (cheap, not attractive) wood in order to start from scratch, so-
Can anyone recommend me a paint or sealant I can now use to stop this yellowing coming through a second layer of Once?
Thanks!
