I have this screw on the top of my staircase where a water tank sits - How do I access this panel and what sort of screw is it to get it out?

A normal flat bladed screwdriver will bridge the gap.
The hole is for a cap to screw into.
Just ensure the screwdriver blade is wide enough to bridge the gap.

Its a 'Mirror Screw', tighten/loosen with a suitably sized flat bladed screwdriver. The hole in the centre is threaded to allow a chrome domed cap to be fitted to conceal the screw head.
