Morning All,

I am going to build a fake chimney wall for an electric log burner and for a tv that will be slightly recessed.

Just a quick query - what would be the most suitable size of timber to build the frame?

It will be fixed to the ceiling, floor and wall.

Photo is just an example of what someone else has done:

3”x2”. Well, that’s what I used. I then formed the sides and front with 12mm ply and then plaster boarded over that so that it could be plastered.

2x2 more than enough and if you're plastering, no need for plywood, straight with plasterboard.

Nah, he's hung a 250kg decorative mirror over his fire.....

I'm another one who thinks that 2 x 2 is adequate
