Hi
I'm looking to put a joist underneath some flat roof joists to give additional span support, but I don't know what type of hangers would be suitable, especially on the wall where the ends of the timberwork are shown (this is the end of another joist on the other side of the wall doing the same function). For the other side, the hanger would need to wrap around the wall as the blockwork to the left of the red line is being removed.
For the side where the timber is shown I was thinking of Simpson strong-tie hangers 91mm x 234mm (Screwfix 41273) with the straps also connecting to the joist above, although as they're 7N blocks in the wall I'm unsure if the twist nails would bang in? The hanger holes look very small and I don't know if they should be drilled out so I can fit multifix concrete screws instead?
Can anyone help me please and suggest what I could use and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Dave
