Modern democracy is a corruption of the Greek ideal for only an aristocracy having the vote - a system that didn't change until the 1830s in this country.

They have unfair, unearned and opaque access to the PM and wider government. The level and type of access they have would be a government ending scandal for anyone except the royal family.

And the only reason they have that power is because that's how we've always done things. That's not good enough.

Depending on which layer you're born into (or appointed to by greasing palms or helping politicians in various ways) you end up having disproportionate influence, or actual unelected legislative power.
