Hello

First I'm a diyer not a trader. I'd like to buy some edge glued hardwood (oak / teak or walnut) pannels and timbers to make several furnitures for my home. So various thickness and sizes may be needed.

Can't find any local or online merchant supplies these to single person. Can some one help? I'm living in Bexleyheath Kent, if it's a local merchant please make sure it's not too far away from me. Prefer to choose from their warehouse onsite, but online shop with delivery is also acceptable.

Thanks

Hardwood is a bit tricky. It's difficult to find a constantly reliable source. I don't know of a supplier offhand who makes up panels, but that doesn't mean to say no one does. I've been out of the business for a year or two now, but I've heard that these people are OK.

They also appear to offer a preparing timber to cutting lists and planing service. You could then edge joint your own pieces to suit.
I've also heard that this company is good

(I've no connection to either incidentally and have never bought from either.)
Most companies who supply hardwood, either supply "wany edge" boards (slices of tree with the bark still on), or sawn square edge AFAIK you can't buy hardwood PAR off the shelf, certainly not with any choice of species and size.
Best way is to ring up different companies and ask what they can offer. If possible go and choose your own boards.

Thank you

I found the website http://www.slhardwoods.co.uk/Looseboards.aspx , they sell Sawn ( "wany edge" boards?) Boards and Planed All Round (PAR) Boards

I don't like to edge joint pieces myself, It's not easy to do this without large tools.

Oak or other hardwood cabinets are all around the country, there must be some suppliers.

http://www.winwood-products.com/ sell these pannles but not onlie, and it's too far for me.

You'd think it'd be easily available, but at least in my experience to get good quality isn't always easy. I used to source timber (oak mostly) from all over the country. I used to talk to the suppliers and tell them what I wanted it for as it's a long way to most from down here. To be fair most were very good.

If the people at Winwood products are making panels, then their quality control must be pretty good. If I didn't have the kit to do the job myself I'd talk to them.

PAR "off the shelf" is fine for some things, but I wouldn't reckon on always being able to edge joint it without further work if it's been planed for some time.

Most of the panels come from China or other European countries, Winwood may just import and distribute, I don't think they make them or sell to public.

And I thought planed square edged is good for edge joint, PAR needs planing the edge first.
