Where is the leak?

Hi,

While renovating my toilet room I notices the soil pipe had a small amount of water running down the outside of it, at the time there was heavy rain. The section where I noticed the water is above any connections in to the soil pipe and from that point it goes up into the loft and out through the roof.

I did an inspection of the roof with my drone but I can't see anything that look out of place or would cause it to leak, but then I don't know much about roofs so I could be missing something.

Can anyone spot any issues that would cause this to leak?

Could it be you actually have a waste water leak as opposed to rain, or is just when it rains?

the weather tile looks good, but I think I can see a crack in the collar, facing up the slope.

it would be a job for an experienced local roofer, especially with riven slates.

you ought to have a look in the roof, preferably on a rainy day

Me too, unless it is a seam.

100% not a waste water leak, there is nothing above where the water is apart from the straight pipe going out through the ceiling and then through the roof.

That was the only bit that caught my eye, just wasn't sure if it was supposed to look like that or not. There wasn't loads of water running down so I guess it could be a pretty small crack.

if it is lead, a skilled leadworker can easily close it.

round my way, ordinary roofers don't do lead, they get a specialist in.

The Seam will be at the back double check the weathering collar is totally sealed to the svp. One point looks iffy

Whilst he is up there, he might be able to seal it temporarily with some suitable sealant.

I've made many hundreds of lead slates but never seen one in that conical shape or welded like that! Certainly not the best way to do it but it has obviously lasted many years.
If the welding has split can easily be repaired (if you have thegear!)

Small cut left hand side will be the issue more than likely, it will be nailed into the lead.
