When there is heavy rain I have water dripping through my ceiling in one place above my stairs. As far as i'm aware there are no pipes in that part of the loft, and it only happens when it rains. Unfortunately due to the location of the leak I cannot see anything in the loft. I have looked at the roof from the ground and it appears there a few tiles near the top that are not laying as they should but I cannot confirm this. Is it likely to be roof tiles causing it and should I look for a roofer to check it out?

It is almost 100&% your roof leaking. It could be the tiles not siting properley but often leaks are caused by defective valleys or faulty lead details.

I would strongly advise you to call a roofer.

Where in Surrey are you ?

How old are the tiles? I reckon the force of rain may have displaced the odd tile over time and the recent weather has finally broke through. If they are new tiles then maybe it was a just a bad piece if placement by the roofer how ever there are now many roofing companies who will fix the job and at an affordable price. I would recommend you get it fixed before the snow kicks in!

Thanks for your replies. I've been here for 6 years and I think the tiles were renewed shortly before that. I'll get it checked out.
