Where to vent a shower extractor fan to?

I'm installing a shower extractor/light unit over my shower, and I'd appreciate any advice over where to vent to. Is not easy to get to the eaves, as they are obstructed by timber framing. Also, the bathroom is in the middle of the house, so is quite a distance from either gable.
What would be the best way to go?

With a vertical vent pipe through a loft space it is advisable to fit a condensation trap to remove water and prevent it getting into the fan's motor.
