My existing float valve is leaking. Either I try to get a new washer or I replace the whole thing which may be simpler.

On one website BES.co.uk I think I can identify my valve as a piston type brass bottom entry, but there are a lot of choices

Which one out of these 2 is considered better?

Piston Type Bottom Entry brass 8741
½" HP float valve plastic piston and seat bottom entry £6.75

Float Operated Valves, Plastic 11202
½" bottom supply float valve, standpipe height 9.½", arm height 8.1/4" 1-24 £2.69

Looks good.

Is it easy to fit in the cistern? do you still attach the ball?

Also, I'm not sure there's enough room for it to fit next to the exisitng black plastic thingy.

looking online I suspect its called the syphon - its pretty big and sits close to the float valve end of things

Aaaah bless. I usually go for the smaller one with the inverted cup - will fit in anywhere and seem to be just about foolproof? ;)

where's the best place to get one of those (before Mr Burnerman proposes to it) & what are they called & is that a plastic bag hanging off of it?
