That's what I would do, as to painting, I know they should be mat black, but have a feeling wife would not allow me to paint. I did fit one mat black, it was inside a wooden box, together with a fan and thermostats, made by Myson, but not sure how one would control them today?
In the days before the condensing boiler, return water temperature did not matter, so turning the fan on/off with a thermostat worked well, but today return temperature does matter, so looked at the new Myson fan assisted, and the building management centre which went with it costs an arm and a leg, I would assume would need to plum in series rather than parallel, as no TRVs fitted?
It would seem the way to go with heat pumps, including scavenger pumps for the condensate, but it simply costs too much.
