Which screws to fix hardwood floorboards?

I'm about to lay 20mm elm square edged floorboards straight to hardwood joists. Any suggestions as to the best screws to use - type, length and size? I will drill pilot holes with a screwdigger and then plug before finishing. I usually get screws from Screwfix.
