I want to emulsion paint (white) a ceiling which has a small water stain. Can anyone recommend what product to use and let me know anything alse that I should bear in mind when doing the job?

I use "oil based" undercoat,, (smelly stuff),,, cheap as chips, and it works as good as any overpriced stainblocker. Try it,,, It does the same job. Use a small brush or roller and apply it, (u/coat) over the water stain. Let it dry, then emulsion the ceiling as per normal.

Recently did a favour to a friend who got stains all over her bathroom ceiling after a waste pipe above came apart and used Srewfix no nonsense spray on stuff great result and no need to repaint the whole ceiling. It's cellulose based so a bit wiffy but good and it goes a long way.

Most pro's are with Roughcaster on this one, but I'm sure the other stuff works just as well.

Thanks all ...
Looks like I'm spoiled for choice. All suggestions are equally helpful and will be of use in differing circumstances in the future. My immediate course of action will depend on whether I make it to B&Q or Screwfix first in the morning!
Many thanks.
