Which tile backing board brand ? STS Tile backer board from Wickes ok?

Need about 6m2 of tile backer board around the standing bath shower.

I looked online and wickes stock STS panels - can I use dot and dab to secure these do the exposed brick walls or is it only with mechanical fixings?

After the backerboards have been secured to the wall - I need a specialist waterproof tape to seal all the joints and then am I ready to tile?

Is it advisable to use silicone in between all the joints as well as I secure the boards to the wall?

Are there any other brands I should consider?
 
I've used drywall adhesive before and a few plugs and screws for good measure. Never tape the joints just silicon them or use hybrid polymer sealant. Couple I've done I've tanked for good measure.
