Hello, which way is cement backer board meant to go, smooth side to the front, or rough side to the front? Does it really matter at all, only l have had a workman who has put some up using a combination of the two - worried that tiles might start falling off or something. Further to add, l have looked this up on the internet, some sites have said smooth side out, whilst others have said rough side out, whilst another site said it doesn't matter. It's difficult knowing which to believe!
