My whirlpool 6th sense (AWM 6140/3) is not completing cycle.

When started, pump appears to be working. After initial pump, door open light flashes but door cannot be opened even after wait period. Need to turn programme dial to neutral position and then wait for two minutes before door will open.

If drain is selected, the cycle appears to complete and open door is lit solid and door can be opened normally.

Checked filter, pump, drum belt, visual check of bushes - all appear OK

Any ideas

Switch on, pump runs. Does the drum then turn?
If not your problem most likely lies with carbon brushes, motor, wiring or pcb.

Is there a pattern to the flashing light? If there is, count the flashes between pauses and let us know.

Sleepyhead, thank you for your reply. The drum does not turn. I checked the bushes again, which were OK ... but further investigation revealed that the motor was not woking. New motor I reckon. Thanks
