Whirlpool ADP 5540 Not enough water

Hi everyone !

My dishwasher is 3 years old. For the past two month I can hear the pump pumping air sometimes.
I have tried to add manually some water inside. It sorts the problem out, but not very handy for my wife !
Could it be a water level detection problem ?
