Hello all, I hope someone can help. I have just bought an imported whirlpool bath which is currently fitted with a continental plug. I have been told by the supplier that this must be removed and it must be wired in using so sort of trip switch (I can't remember what it was called). I am going to get an electrician to do this for me but would like to know what I will need to specify and what the regulations are? As you can imagine I want to make sure this is done properly.

It will need wiring into an FCU (fused connection unit)*. RCD protection is probably a good idea, and if your socket circuit doesn't have that you can get RCD FCUs.

You're electrician will know all about it though, and where the FCU is allowed to be fixed etc.

You don't have to specify anything other than "I want this wired in"

*Probably. What is the load of the device?
