If it's no more than 5 years old then a continuous flashing start light indicates an NTC failure.

Thanks for that. We left the machine about 15 mins after the last boiling water input and low and behold it started and is now running normal. :D

The problem seems to have reared its ugly head again. I have had a maintenance man out at the house and reset the computer, however, the light is still flashing constantly with the beeping also beeping constantly, no breaks and no pattern.

The maintenance man says it could be a number of things wrong as no pattern to lights or beeping apart from constant. Can you help. The machine is less than 5 years old.

Already answered.
Whoever you got out to look at the machine doesn't know that there is a built in engineer test program and he also doesn't know the fault codes. A constant flash, on, off, on etc with no pauses is error code F1. Ntc failure.

NTC = Negative Temperature Co-efficient.
Basically it's a temperature sensor also known as a feeler.
Common problem with Whirlpool machines.
If your machine is younger than 5 year old and the NTC is at fault it will be failing before going onto fill only.
It should pump and fill at the same time while the on board software runs it's diagnostics. Any part fails the diagnostics the machine aborts the program. Reverts to the rinse (or 1st program) symbol and flashes an error code on the start light.
Pour a kettle of boiling water into the sump of the dishwasher and try running it. Sometimes the NTC can be shocked into working, for a while.

run any program on dishwasher, it shut down after about one minute, bottom fills with water, start button flashes 6 times. any idea's?
