Whirlpool dishwasher not draining properly.

I have a Whirlpool DU920PFGQ4 dishwasher that washes and completes a cycle but the water is left in the bottom. If I hit the drain cancel button it usually will drain all the water out on the second time doing this. I have taken it apart and havent seen anything that looks like a problem. Does anyone have any ideas of what I should check? The unit is about 6 year old. Thanks in advance for any help.

I took off the check valve and there was a piece of metal stuck in there. I ran one cycle and it drained fine. Hopefully that takes care of it.
