hi, the mum in laws oven is playing up again. the light comes on inside, the fans work, the grill works, but the oven won't heat up even on the highest temp. i'm wondering if it's either the temp. gauge faulty or the heating element. your thoughts please i'm trying to save her some money. thanks. mark

sorry if i put this in appliances by mistake

one or the other, you need to test them to find which is not working as it should

thanks for your reply but as an electrician i make a good potato peeler! could you advise me how to do this please.

i am sure there is a joke to do with eyes in their.

but any way, you need to use a multi meter. after all you would not expect to peel spuds without a knife or peeler would you

ok, it seems the element was faulty, i got it tested at the spares shop and bought a new one for £25, fitted it and it works great now. the mum in law says it heats up even quicker now too so i suppose the old one may have been on it's last legs before packing up. thanks
