Hi guys

Machine is old but I’ve managed to maintain it

Anyway at switch on there’s a pause then display shows flashing F11 and the drain pump runs for approximately 20 seconds

There’s no water in drum and drain pump isn’t blocked
I’ve tried reseating all the connections at the front but haven’t got to motor yet to take a look

Any ideas there was a very knowledgeable poster who assisted previously

TIA Mike

In a previous post you said you had narrowed the problem down to the control board did you replace it.
Below is the result of a google search.
Zipper has not been on the site for a few years now so doubt he will be able to advise this time

The F11 error on a Whirlpool washer indicates a communication failure between the central control unit (CCU) and the motor control unit (MCU). The most common causes are loose or corroded wire connections, but a failed control board can also be the culprit. To troubleshoot, first try unplugging the machine and then reseating all wire connectors at both the CCU (under the top panel) and the MCU (under the machine). If the error persists, the problem could be a failed MCU or CCU.

This video demonstrates how to access and inspect the motor control unit:

1. Inspect and reset connections
  • Unplug the washer: for safety before starting any work.
  • Remove the top panel: by unscrewing the three screws at the back, then sliding the panel back.

  • Locate the CCU: (the main control board) and unplug all connectors, then firmly re-insert them.

  • Remove the back panel: or lower access panel to find the MCU (motor control unit).

  • Check all wires: connected to the MCU, especially the blue communication wires, and firmly reseat each one.

  • Clean any signs of corrosion from the pins and connectors using an electrical contact cleaner if possible.

2. Test for issues and replace parts
  • If reseating the connections doesn't fix the problem, the error could be due to a faulty board.
  • The MCU is the most common part to fail, but the CCU can also be the issue.

  • To further diagnose, you can test the motor windings with a multimeter, but this is a more advanced step.

  • If you are not comfortable with this, consider calling a professional. Replacement parts are available if the boards are confirmed to be faulty

I had all the motor readings noted previously , don’t know if I still have , but I’ll check it anyway

I’ve inspected the CCU , next I’ll take a look at MCU

Good video above btw
