can anyone recommend a white paint that will stay white. I painted all my upstairs doors etc no more than 18 months ago, they are now yellow. I think i read that oil based paints go yellow quickest, is that right? Doesnt help that my partner smokes

Probably not your partners fault.

You are correct that oil based paints yellow- this is a result of a lack of direct UV light.

Water based paints wont yellow but are less durable (compared to oil based). Alternatively you can use paints such as acid cat but these are rather toxic and need to be sprayed.

Post 2010 VOC I try to sway customers away from white paint to off whites where the yellowing is less obvious.
