White westinghouse Dishwasher Model 2004471

Hi there

This is the first time I've used this forum so go easy on me.

I have a White Westinghouse dishwasher (model number 200471) that has suddenly stopped heating the water. With the power off, obviously, Ihave attempted to remove the element having disconnected the terminals via the bottom front of the machine. My problem is in how to actually remove and replace the element as there is a metal plate on the terminal side and the rubber seal and metal plate on the wet side.

Any advice would be greatfully received before my hands get too wrinkly.
