not strictly a DIY question I know, but help would be appreciated anyway. I need to redecorate / renovate a room which would involve removing a dado rail, old (not really old - 20yrs) plaster coving and a decorative plaster rail on the ceiling. Thereafter making good walls and ceiling. Do I need to call a painter and decorator or a plasterer???

There are many property maintenance people that do all of those (and more).

Overkill for a plasterer; unless removal ends up pulling great lumps of plaster off or the rest of the wall/ceiling is shot & needs repair/re-skimming, I can’t imagine a spread would be interested unless desperate for work. Any “competent” painter & decorator should be able to manage cosmetic repairs.

Yaeh agree with richard. I would do that kind of a job on my own.
