Can anyone recommend a good whole house water filter (with no electric supply needed), I have installed an inline compact water filter but did not make much difference to scale. Live in a hard water area.
Now I've used a water softener, and I know they work, and I've used a couple of the smaller inline conditioners, and they haven't. But the the water softeners use salt and water to flush the system, and take up a lot of space, so is the Aquabion good enough to replicate their effectiveness, and as it needs replacing after about 5 years, how cost effective is it (assuming it works as well) over a long period.
I've not fitted one yet but I have several colleagues who really rate them. It's always gonna be a balance between install of a full system and 5-7 year replacement of the above!
