Hi

I'm soon to embark on my next project for a kitchen renovation.

Whilst I was inspecting the area I heard a whooshing sound coming from around the pipe, I belive this is the main run coming into the building.

It's the sort of sound that you here when the tap is on if you know what I mean.

Is this unusual or am I worries about nothing?

I can't see any leaks anywhere

If you have a water meter, look at the water bubble in the middle of the dial. Is it constantly moving?

carry out these two tests:

turn off the main stopcock, out in the street or garden or beside the meter. Does the noise stop?

If so, turn it back on, and turn off the indoor stock under the sink. Does the noise stop?

If yes, no, you probably have a leak in the supply pipe under the floor.

If yes, yes, you have something going on inside the house, perhaps a WC cistern or loft tank.

If no, no, it is probably not a leak in the house, but possibly at the water meter or street.
