Why should we have to pay for her funeral

Let the bankers pay.....................................................................it's still our money though

Eight million pounds I believe, it would have been worth it 30 years ago but not now.
Let the rich bankers who owe most of their current wealth to her have a whipround, I don't want a penny of my taxes to go towards burying that evil b*tch.

Boring boring now - I know you have a thing about Maggie as a Scouser but like a lot of people you blame your woes for your own failing on others.

When I was younger I went to Liverpool and got a bus from Runcorn to the town centre.

When I asked for a ticket the driver looked at me stupid.
What was actually happening was the driver was taking money from passengers himself and not issuing tickets. Of course he was only asking for half as much as a real ticket would cost so thats what people did. If an inspector was going to get on the bus the driver would ring the bell and everyone would pile off.
Thats just a small example. Liverpool is where the highest number of unpaid fines are located. You cant keep behaving like that as if the whole world owes you a living , and lazy? Scousers were notorious for it.
Of course things have changed but some things are the same. I have run a few businesses and many attempts have been made to get me to stump up money for some poor disadvantaged children or some other worthy cause except there is no cause and the publications you are asked to advertise in don't actually exist. Need I say where all these scams originate?
Of course you did have that divi Derek Hatton the original champagne socialist who suckered you all in by giving you just what you wanted , money for nothing and you supported him all the way while he bled the council coffers dry to line his own pockets.

You call me boring, then post a half a page of generalisations.

You call me boring, then post a half a page of generalisations.

Of course they are generalisations I could not dare to suggest they apply to everyone but it is true without a doubt that there was a different culture towards work in Liverpool and that was right or wrong the reasons why many industries never set up shop in Liverpool.
Read the wiki about the 1984-85 miners strike and you will see that often the action Maggie took was in fact the ONLY course of action available.
Are your beliefs coloured by what Maggie ACTUALLY did or what you perceive she did?

Maggie could not make businesses support Liverpool if they did not want to.

It's true that there was a national perception that there was a different culture towards work in Liverpool.
Fed by the natiional papers for 30 or 40 years that I can remember.
Most southerners who have never been near the place still think that they would be taking their life in their hands to risk a visit.
You sound like one of them.
The truth is that Liverpool is no better or worse than any other similar sized place in this country but it has had a "bad press" to put it mildly.
By the way

Of course you did have that divi Derek Hatton the original champagne socialist who suckered you all in by giving you just what you wanted , money for nothing and you supported him all the way while he bled the council coffers dry to line his own pockets.
You seem to be suggesting that this applies to everyone, and to follow up your assertion that your not suggesting your generalisations apply to everyone with this little gem...
but it is true without a doubt that there was a different culture towards work in Liverpool
says everything I need to know about where you're coming from.

I'm with Ken Loach
http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/ken-loach-wants-thatcher-s-funeral-privatised-091117524.html

“How should we honour her? Let’s privatise her funeral. Put it out to competitive tender and accept the cheapest bid. It’s what she would have wanted.”

I bid £49, I've got my own wheelbarrow

I could give her a more fitting send off. Ive got an old miners carriage from the abandoned mine near my house. We can just carry her down there and chuck her in't pit.

An operational manager once told me that 'perception' is everything. This is true. It does not really matter what the truth is good or bad because people make decisions based on perception.

The reality is that many businesses didn't choose Liverpool because of geography and the cost of road haulage and its distance from London.
The Militant unionism and the dockers seemingly careless attitude and 'downing tools' at the drop of a hat was responsible for that perception.

There's an informative piece on Liverpool here relating to the 90s Dock strike. You will see no Maggie here but a Labour govt.
