Hello everyone,

Could you please let me know what are advantages for putting plaster on Drywalls are. I thought about putting sealant, and two coats of paint but someone advise me to put thin layer of plaster, why?

Many thanks

Jakub

It is (or at least was) very common to just joint fill the bare plasterboard and paint, and not bother with the plaster skim.

Both methods are acceptable, but there is something very superior about a properly plastered finish.

One advantage about skimming plasterboard with plaster is that if you ever wallpaper it you have a better chance of removing it later.

I have achieved a pretty good finish by joint filling, lining and painting drywall, but I agree, skimming gives a more classy finish.
