Hi all, so we've extended our house which was built in 1965 and knocked our some internal single brick internal walls and found a slate DPC. Im planning to level the floor with a self levelling compound. Whats the best way to seal over the old DPC. Has anyone experience of Wickes Bitumen Damp Proof Membrane Liquid, Not all the reviews are good.
Can anyone recommend an alternative product?

you seem to be confusin DPC's an membranes.

DPC's go in wall mortar beds an membrane are sheets or liquid pours across floors of large surfaces.

why not post photos of what youve got esp given the different floor levels an maybe different kinds of floors.

whats the finished floor coverin material goin to be?

Has the floor got a dpm in it? 1965 could swing both ways.
You could take a course of bricks off and add a plastic one then fill with concrete.

Yes - just this year. You need to 'paint' on 2 thick coats about 24/48 hours apart - do ventilate the area well. Also paint up the walls as well - a bit higher than the skirting.
What is your intention post using this? a new screed? a void under a wooden floor? SLC?
Be aware this stuff will remain (muckily) Tacky so you need to be ready as the second coat is applied with dry sand to 'blind' the Liquid if you are leaving a void or applying SLC. If you are intending to screed the floor then that ought to go down 48/72 hours after the second coat.

Interestingly reading the reviews it may not meet BC wishes so maybe ask your local BC for advice.

You'll not see Wickes used on a proper building site. Stick with Synthaprufe as mentioned or RIW Flexiseal. Though as mentioned it's not really clear what you're doing.
