Will a cats whisker radio still work?

Seem to remember a radio looking identical sold by Radioshack and Currys, but is seemed the Radioshack one had some internal changes to stop interference from the display, I got the cheaper one, still have it somewhere, only HF radio I have with a BFO, but not been used in years, well, since local RAYNET disbanded, don't think I have used any radio on amateur bands. Keep renewing my licence, but not used any more.
