Will cutting the bottom off a concrete fence post compromise it by letting the rebar corrode?

I have a concrete post that is too long. I'm told the shorter one was out of stock and that the plan is to cut the bottom off before it is postcreted in, with a layer of postcrete on the bottom to protect the newly exposed rebar ends. I'm concerned that the postcrete is not waterproof and the rebar ends will corrode.

Should I insist on getting the correct size post (or digging a bigger hole) or will it be ok to cut the post down?

Thanks.

I don't know the answer but I watched a local professional fencer cut the bottom off every concrete post that he installed, to suit the depth of hole that he had dug. The posts don't show any sign of damage, but they have only been in for a couple of years.
