I need a bit of urgent help please. We are doing a new build and have decided on pine skirtings and architraves. (Originally, due to a mis-understanding, it was all going to be painted MDF !)
But we would also like pine window boards as well. But we need 250mm wide boards and are told that (a) we will never find them this width and we would be stupid to fit them even if we did because they will move. and (b) They will almost certainly be at least two boards joined in which case they will move in different directions !
Is there a light hardwood that we could use instead that can be obtained in 250mm and which wouldn't move as much as pine and we could stain and varnish in the same way ?
We are getting on with plastering and tiling and this has just cropped up ! We have plastered where there are going to be tiles in the windows and left the brick/blockwork as is for where we want window boards.
What are our options please ? Thanks for any help that anyone can give.
