If you must have a switch/isolator can I suggest one without a neon.

Why?
The neon is there as a reminder the switch has been left wasting power in the appliance.

We get far more complaints about faulty shower pull isolators than faulty showers.

Who are the "we" you are referring to ? Perhaps a company of electrical service engineers / technicians ?

You can get pull isolators/switches with mechanical flags. No need for power hungry neons. Showers don't use power when they are not running.

I haven't seen any without a light for a while now and a very quick google images search showed hundreds of pics and every one had a light. I'm not saying they don't exist but they do look to be a rarity now. I haven't searched for such switches without a light, and I don't intend to.
