I have an exam next week, and I know some of the questions will cover the wiring of a 3 port and 2 port valve.

I have diagrams here etc, but does anyone have an easy way to remember what the different colours of a wire do e.g Orange is wired to pump and boiler etc

Any help greatly received.

Depends on the type of system and in some cases the make/model of the valve as well

Orange is boiler and pump normally

White is room stat call.

Grey is cylinder stat sat.

After that you have to make your mind up, according to the boiler Mi's, and the controls installed.

The one big problem with your question is you need to know how it is designed to work, and what is expected to happen after you finish.

what kind of exam expects you to remember wiring colurs, you would NEVER fit anything without MI which has all the info, what you need to do is get stuck into some studying of HOW syatems work and what the controls do so you can start to understand/follow fault finding techniques when required

You don't have to remember the colours, you only have to understand how it works.
