Help! I'm doing my first bit of DIY on my heating system.
Drayton Flowshare motorized valve has failed and I have bought a Danfoss three port valve with an HS3 motor to replace it.
I had hoped that chaging over the wiring would be a matter of "wire for wire, colour for colour" but was shocked to find out that it is not that simple.
Wires going in to the old unit are White,Orange, Blue and Grey
Can anyone help??

Get hold of a danfoss leaflet if you haven't got one. You may find the info on the web.

I believe the wiring of 3 positon motorised valves is fairly standard.
My understanding of the wires are.
(a) the blue is the neutral, as in everything else these days
(b) the white comes from the 'room stat' to operate the valve and switch the boiler and pump on if not already on.
(c) the grey comes from the cylinder stat to operate the valve and switch the boiler and pump on if not already on
(d) the orange is from the valve to operate the boiler and pump depending if either or both the white and grey are live.
There should in addition be a 'earth' green or green/yellow
Don't know if this ties up with ' Danfoss'
