I want to convert my loft for storage and plan on putting B&Q chipboard down. My problem is the wiring for the lights upstairs run threw loft and the wiring is over the to of joists how do I go about fitting floorboard with these in the way? do i notch out resesses for the wires to lie in in the beams?

Thanks

If you're just using the loft for storage, can't you just leave a small (1/2") gap between boards to leave the wires exposed?
If you notch the joists, not only will you weaken them, but you risk putting nails/ screws through them
