Wiring up a light switch

I am attempting to wire up a double switch.
There are 2 3-core wires which i have connected like to like from fuse box to switch.

the light switch does not work.

any ideas please?

Very puzzled by your wiring!
Now live, Neutral and Earth come from consumer unit. This would be a Twin & Earth cable.
Usually I put in junction box. From this Live and earth go to switch. Return to junction box from double switch are two switch lives. This would be a 3 core and earth cable.
Then two Twin and earth supplies to lights. Each has Switch live, Neutral and Earth.
