We have a brick wall seperating us from next door, approx 7 ft high going at 90 degrees from the back wall of the house.

About 2 ft up the wall towards one end, the pointing has crumbled, forcing the wall to be very wobbly. My builder tells me that the wall should be double the thickness, currently it is approx 4 inch thick.

There are 2 conservatories each side of the wall with approx a ft gap between the wall and each conservatory. I also have a 1 year old son and think it is dangerous as it is open to the wind on 1 side.

He suggested building a brick pillar set in concrete at one end to support it.

Would you agree this is the best option?

Your help would be appreciated....

Thanks

Dan

Hi Dan, yes a wall of 7 feet high should really be a minimum 9" (1 brick) thick. Pillars may also be required, dependant on the length of the wall. How long is the wall?
