Thanks to the work of the Free Speech Union, legalities such as the above are being taken to the highest court of the land and being ruled unlawful. Police are no longer allowed to record "non crime hate speech" on a criminal record. Unfortunately, the cretins at the Daily Mirror are signed up to the "Long March Through the Institutions", so are on-board with the nuspeak anyway.

What is obvious to me is that a perverted and immoral criminal exploits any weakness to pursue their illegal activities.
It has always been thus. It isn't the fault of society for having such 'areas' that can be exploited by criminals.
If one thinks along that vein, then we should ban all money, all possessions, all children, etc. Then criminals cannot steal or abuse them.
It's absurd to imply society is at fault for having 'scenarios' that can be exploited by criminals.

Thanks for that. I do actually know about the FSU and I'm a fan of the great Toby Young and his Lockdown Sceptics and Daily Sceptics work. The FSU have a great battle on their hands, the main enemy being the mainstream media. They had a small victory recently:
