Wood selection for rustic breakfast bar

Evening all,

We want to have a breakfast bar in our cottage. Im looking to build it myself, i just need to know what wood to use for it.

Im thinking scaffolding board for the top and shelves and drawers and red wood for the rest. Im hoping somebody has built something similar and can tell me what wood they used?

I bought a rustic garden bench and table. I stripped them down and made a nice couple of pallets from them.

Im unsure what you are telling me , guessing the bench and chair was crappy wood
