You will need a big store for the chips, and a reliable supply of dry chips. Boilers are big an comparatively expensive. Alternatives are wood pellet and log boilers. With the log boilers you need a LARGE storage vessel to store the heat or it gets inefficient.
I had for quote recently for the Froiling (I was informed they are Rolls Royce quality) wood chip burner.
£20,000 and I still need a plumber to pipe it to my existing system.
The Froiling log burner was a little cheaper at £9000.
I get the woodchips for free as I live on a farm and they arrive in 20 ton loads for cattle bedding.
Even with the fuel for free I would never consider it as the boiler is just to expensive.
