My Aunt has her house name etched on wood and it's a bit weatherworn. Looks like paint that's on it with the lettering in gold. After I strip it, any suggestions as to what I should use - paint/woodstain/somenewthingiveneverheardof?
Cheers.

Depends how well it preps.
If the wood is good stain. See wood grain through.
If it's poor and needs filling use opaque wood stain like mahogany or other. It's a paint that's looks like a stain colour covering the the wood so you can't see the grain.
Or you can buy something like zinsser all coat 500ml white or black. Loads of colours if you prefer.
If you want some gold paint hobby shop or online.
