We are replacing our Pergo laminate flooring in kitchen and dining room with prefinished 3/8" hardwood that will be nailed down to a plywood subfloor. This part of the house is 80 years old and there is a 1" high toe-breaker between the kitchen and dining room floor we would like to get rid of for safety sake. We were going to raise the kitchen with more ply, but have just found the dishwasher will not fit under the cabinet if we do and we do not want to have to pull all the cabinets, counter top and sink to do this.
Is there some kind of solid 0-1" solid subfloor transition rise/wedge that we could buy or build so that the hardwood floor can go smoothly over the top? The depth of the transiton would be 24" - the depth of our range on one side of the 4'5" doorway of which cabinets line the opposite wall.
Any help is much appreciated. THANKS SO MUCH!
