Got a fault with my boiler i think, has anyone got any ideas please..when ch is on pressure rises to 3 bar, after a day or so i have to top the system up as the pressure drops to 2 marks of the 0 when turned off, the system is covered by the gas board service plan but they just ignore it, is this comman and should i ignore it?..many thanks

Call up the Gas Board and get them to top-up the expansion vessel IAW manufacturers instructions. Pressure of exp. vessel should be checked at every service (but it's hard to do it in 10 minutes when it takes 9 to fill out the paperwork!)

And don't take any crup (typo error) about parts not being available/old boiler/should have it replaced, etc..

Have you ever called the gas board in for this problem or just mentioned it on an annual check?. It isn't something that would be picked up on an annual visit unless you mentioned it. Also worth saying that it is best not to save problems for the annual check as your engineer has 35mins to complete the job and that will include anything you mention on the day, if you ring it through as a breakdown he will have 50 mins to spend just on the problem.
