i have a old boiler which has run with no problem for the 3 years i have been in this house, on 0.5 bar. the boiler has no filling loop and no sign of anything discribed on this forum. i want to change 2 radiaters but i,m worried i will loose all pressure and have no way of putting pressure in. i must add the boiler seems to be run off a header tank in the bedroom and the radiaters are fed on 10mm pipes. any advice would be greatfully recieved. thanks

It sounds as if the boiler has been fitted on an open vented system, probably contrary to the installation instructions.

Most WB combis (usually those with pumped flow) up to and including the last non-condensing CDI's gave an open vent option in the MI's.

it does have a 22mm pipe which comes out the top of the boiler and runs into the ceiling and back into the house, not sure where it goes. but the boiler works great and is economical so see no point in spending money replacing it.

I seem to remember that some older WB combis were OK to fit on an open vented system(that includes yours).Your system will refill in the normal way as you would any normal open system.

does that mean it will automatically fill itself from the header tank and i have no way of increasing the preasure manually
