we have just had our 15/19 serviced, and the boiler now runs continually at a low level, putting my hand over the flue and there is always warm air coming through it.

even if I turn the water heating temp down to zero and the same for the heating and indeed turn them to off on the timer it still continues to hum away presumably burning oil all this time

has the engineer made a mistake here or is there something simple I can change? after previous services it never did this.

cheers

The servicing schedule for this boiler wouldn't have allowed for this problem. Servicing wouldn't have caused this I'm a afraid.

Just a case of bad timing

I can only think for some weird reason the fan is running all the time.
Which would be a control box fault. If the burner was running with flame the boiler would soon get up to temperature and have to cut off.
So the fan must be running taking the heat out of the boiler and central heating system and blowing through the flue.
Very unusual if that is the case.

Post purge timer is faulty
(probably as a result of power being turned off for service (NOT ENGINEERS FAULT) this can happen sometimes get the engineer to check and replace the post purge kit if required

Its an internal boiler. You could be right about the post purge kit, there was some discussion about whether to replace it or not. It was making a bit of noise. Simple enough to replace anyway.

Thanks for all your help, much appreciated
