I had a WB boiler installed earlier this year and it seems to work very well. However there is often a strong gas smell outside at the vent where the steam etc exits my house.

Do those who have knowledge of this think this is normal?

It is relatively normal on modern boilers to get the odd whiff of unburnt gas outside the property by the flue terminal.

That said, its difficult to say for certain without smelling it myself but it shouldnt be an over poweringly strong smell.

If you do have any doubts then contact a GSR Engineer to be 100% certain.

Luda, as an 'RGI', I would be VERY concerned if it were unburnt gas leaving the boiler........

However, much more likely is that the smell is just burnt 'odourizer' added to the otherwise odourless Methane at the treatment plant before being introduced into the national system.

This does seem to hang around a bit though on a still day.
