Hi team

I have a noisy worcester bosh 30CDI greenstar on an open vented system.

Over the past two weeks it heats water fine and fires up without any problems.

When the system thermostat turns the boiler off after running, I can hear the burner switched off (led goes off) and there is a 3 second grinding noisy similar to a worn wheel bearing on a car. I am assuming it has something to do with the Flue fan assembly but cannot be sure.

My dilemma is.

Is this a simple fault any plumber could fix or should I go to Worcester Bosh? Worcester claim to charge £250 for call-out and parts. A local plumber would be £50 per hour.

Any pointers please would be grateful

The lower the hourly charge the more "hours" are included like parking, traveling to get parts, returning from the parts via the cafe etc.

I charge a fixed price usually and that covers returning with parts if required.

You may be better waiting until it fails completely!
