Hi

I've got a Worcester Highflow 400 boiler, and the central heating thermostat on the front panel has broken, the knob just turns around and is not engaging.

As we never use it any more, having a room thermostat, is it ok to bypass this one, and if so how.

Cheers

Bypassing the boiler stat is not an option. How would you control the CH output water temp? Would it not be more sensible to replace the knob?

Thanks for the quick reply. The knob is fine, it's the thermostat that's failed so I'll get hold of a replacement.

Can I bypass it in the short term till a new part arrives, it's -3˙C outside and we've no heating.

Cheers

No you can't, you're bypassing a safety control. Without the boiler thermostat it will either run until it gets incredibly hot and the overheat thermostat will shut it down, or if the overheat thermostat failed to operate the boiler could explode!

Thanks for the very prompt advice, we'll wrap up till the replacement arrives.
